San Pedro is one of the oldest cities in South Bay yet the most "hidden" one from investing point of view. Originally it started as a place for fishermen and fishing industry workers to come and settle.  You'd still see lots of family of original settlers from Eastern Europe, Italy and South America.  In early parts of last century Los Angeles Port growth allowed for massive development of the city and surrounding areas. Workforce demand has brought large amount of new people to the neighborhood. Historically it's been family oriented, middle class hardworking people and their families.
During World War II port became one of the major arteries of supply and communication.
Today the Port generates 919,000 regional jobs and $39.1 billion in annual wages and tax revenues.
